Why this recipe works

This light, airy, and cherry-licious dessert is so simple to make. Cherry fluff consists of crushed pineapple, cool whip, and cherry pie filling and makes one heck of a pretty presentation with its soft pink color and fun garnishes. It’s a twist on the classic ambrosia salad and is amazing in its own right!

This is a great dish to make for Easter, Valentine’s Day, Christmas, or summer gatherings.

FILLING – What makes this dessert stand out is marshmallows and the combination of pineapple and cherries. Frequently Asked Questions

What can I substitute?

You can substitute the canned cherry pie filling for drained maraschino cherries or your own homemade cherry pie filling. You can also swap the canned crushed pineapple for fresh-cut pineapple. We have seen the cherry pie filling be substituted with a strawberry pie filling, but have not tried this ourselves.

Can I make this low fat?

You can make this cherry fluff low fat by using fat-free sweetened condensed milk, fat-free Cool Whip, and omitting the addition of pecans and shredded coconut. You can also cut back on the sugar a bit by using unsweetened crushed pineapple and sugar-free Cool Whip.

How do I store cherry fluff?

You can store this dessert in a bowl tightly covered with cling wrap in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. We love to use these mixing bowls that come with air-tight lids for storing this dish.
