Ingredients for Christmas Tree Pull Apart Bread

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions

BISCUITS – This recipe uses large canned biscuits, but crescent rolls would probably work as well. This recipe reminds me of my favorite pull apart dinner rolls, so you could always use that recipe instead!

SAUCE – You can certainly use jarred marinara or pizza sauce, but I’m partial to my homemade pizza sauce for this recipe.

CHEESE – Cheese sticks make this recipe really easy. Use your favorite flavor! You can substitute with a cubed block of cheese if preferred.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips

Can I make this recipe without cheese?

Yes, of course. It would be the same as baking the canned biscuits, just shaped differently.

How do you store leftovers?

Store leftovers in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. I would not recommend freezing this recipe. Reheat in the oven at 300F or in the air fryer using the reheat function.

Can I make it ahead of time?

You can prepare the dough with the cheese stuffed inside an hour or two in advance, but I wouldn’t suggest any longer than that. If you plan on bringing this to a get-together, prep it as mentioned above just before leaving or an hour ahead of time, cover with plastic wrap, and bake as directed when you arrive at the gathering. Store the prepped dough balls in the refrigerator if possible until you are ready to bake.
