In the last four months, I’ve made quite a few changes to my diet. I drink a lot of smoothies, they are my go-to breakfast now. I’m able to get in some fruit, vegetables, and quite a few nutrients all in one delicious breakfast drink! This post is brought to you by So Delicious Dairy Free through our partnership with Tap Influence.

How to make dairy free smoothies, yes they're vegan!more

Today I’m going to tell you about the dairy-free smoothies I enjoy all week long using frozen fruit, fresh spinach, So Delicious Dairy Free Organic Almondmilk and coconut milk yogurt.

Why I Enjoy Dairy Free Smoothies

After having food sensitivity testing done, I discovered that I have to avoid several things including gluten, candida and casein. Casein is a protein found in milk from mammals. That means no more milk or dairy based yogurt in my smoothies.

By substituting regular milk with So Delicious Dairy Free Organic Almondmilk I’m able to enjoy dairy free smoothies without worrying about the casein protein.

My test results came with a list of foods that cause inflammation in my body. I personally do not have any severe reactions to anything and I am very grateful for that. But there are several things that cause inflammation for me, so that has played a major role in the food choices I make.

I’ve always loved smoothies, but I only made them once in a while. Now I make these dairy free smoothies every day!

By avoiding or limiting certain foods I’ve been able to lose over 20 pounds, but even better I feel less bloated and my ankles aren’t sausages at the end of the day anymore!

Non Dairy smoothies for breakfast

My nutritionist suggested that I try So Delicious Dairy Free products, including their coconut milk yogurt because there are no added sugars, unlike other dairy-free yogurts. So Delicious Dairy Free products are not only dairy free, they are certified vegan, meaning everything is plant based, including their packaging!

Look, I’ve never really been a big yogurt fan, and have never been able to embrace the tangy flavor of Greek yogurt. But I love this coconut milk yogurt and I use it quite often in my smoothies. In fact, the plain version has a natural sweetness from the coconut that makes it delicious without added extracts or flavors! Pairing this yogurt with So Delicious Dairy Free Organic Almondmilk is an absolute no-brainer!

Ingredients for vegan smoothies

How I make my Vegan Smoothies

Each morning I open the freezer and choose what fruit I’d like to have. I keep my freezer stocked with dark sweet cherries, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple and a tropical mix of strawberry, banana, mango, and papaya.

Next, I grab the So Delicious Dairy Free Organic Almondmilk, coconut milk yogurt and fresh spinach.

Now I’ll be honest, I don’t often measure, but I did this time so I could give you an accurate measurement. I use the following:

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit
  • 3/4 cup almondmilk
  • 6-oz container (roughly 1 cup) coconut milk yogurt
  • A handful of fresh spinach

use a good blender to make these non-dairy smoothies

All that’s left to do is blend. I suggest using a good blender. I use a BlendTec but i’ve heard raving reviews about VitaMix as well. I’ve had my BlendTec for several years and use it daily. I simply push the smoothie button and let it do all the work.

Variations and flavor combinations for smoothies

Variations and flavor combinations for smoothies

It depends on your tastes really. I like to experiment quite a bit. I’ve been known to add granola, oats, flax seed, chia seed, protein powder, and a variety of other things.

I have tried other greens besides spinach, but some are bitter. Spinach is smooth and not very noticeable in flavor, which means it doesn’t take away from your fruit combinations.

Some of my favorite combinations include (all of these include using almond milk and yogurt; all fruits are frozen – if you use fresh fruit, add ice cubes):

  • cherries and spinach
  • pineapple, mango, some fresh orange juice and a little coconut extract
  • strawberry, banana, and vanilla extract
  • blueberries, chia seeds, spinach, almond extract

Non-dairy smoothie recipes

I would love to hear your favorite flavor combinations! I am always looking to try new smoothies! Here are some more of my faves:

  1. Pina Colada Smoothie
  2. Cranberry Smoothie
  3. Coffee Smoothie
  4. Almond Maple Smoothie
  5. Coconut Smoothie
